Some pundits have reckoned this food scare is the worst since BSE:

Sudan 1 is normally used as a colouring in solvents, oils, waxes, petrol, and shoe and floor polish. Experts warn it could contribute to an increased risk of cancer although they add there is unlikely to be an immediate risk to health. click for more information

My daughter has a profound allergy to artificial colors and flavors in foods; because of her exquisite sensitivity, we never have these products in the house. No immediate risk to health? Rubbish. These foods are poison, whether or not they are contaminated with a known carcinogen.

The fact that many of those pulled from the shelves of my local store are marketed under the slogans Be Good To Yourself and Taste the Difference is awfully funny though. For a complete list of recalled food:
